Cari Gonzalez Casanova was born in 1971 in Puerto Rico.
Her practice can take many different forms, such as: participatory projects, publications, performative works, objects, videos, drawings or talks. Her work is primarily interested in looking at how our notions of reality and/or fiction are constructed. She questions the influence of these on our experience and perception of the world, both personal and collective. Modern myths such as the Bermuda Triangle, UFOs and Yetis, as well as utopian literature and architecture, do-it-yourself culture, the aesthetics of activism, the use of theory in art, military history (or war simulacra), romanticism in music and in literature are some of the subjects that inform her work.
