Philippe Cazal

Philippe Cazal was born in 1948 in France. He currently lives and works in Paris.
His reuse of publicity and marketing esthetics creates a critical discourse on cities, economy and the position occupied today by artists. In 1975 he creates the group UNTEL, together with Jean-Paul Albinet and Alain Snyers. UNTEL investigates the daily life in his potential banality as well as the public sphere in order to challenge it by a series of interventions and actions often executed outside. After the dissolution of the group in 1980 Philippe Cazal intends to pursue his critical goal and becomes a “publicity artist”. As a brand he transforms his name in a copyright and elaborates his work in a various wage of support (posters, objects, advertising panel) generated by the marketing field.
