Leigh Ledare was born in 1976 in Seattle, USA. He lives and works in New York. Leigh Ledare’s multidisciplinary work regularly uses photography, the archive, text, and film. His works raise in a direct way the question of intimacy, transforming the observer in the voyeur of private scenes or situation dealing with social taboos (as in the series of picture of his naked mother that he then cross off) He considers the notion of subjectivity in a performativity dimension, his work therefore always put in tension what can be either a document or a private cliché, what can be visible and what can be suggested.
