Christian Marclay was born in 1955 in California. He lives and works between New York and London. He is a visual artist and composer whose innovative work explores the juxtaposition between sound recording, photography, video and film. As a performer and sound artist he has been experimenting, with phonograph records and turntables since1979 to create his “theater of found sound,” influenced by Marcel Duchamp. Following his interest with assembling in The Clock he edited movie sequences, extracted from the cinematographic history and presenting a clock with the same hour than the time where he projected it.
